Good to know

Get the perfect export

Pick the right format and size once, and your image looks right wherever it goes.

Pick the right format

PNG keeps transparency and crisp edges. JPG makes small files for photos and email. WebP gives the smallest files for the web.

Size it once, use it anywhere

Choose 2x or 3x for crisp results on high-resolution screens, or type an exact width for posts, slides and print.

Outline your text first

Text uses fonts installed on your device. Convert text to outlines in your design tool so it looks the same everywhere.

Transparent or solid

Keep the background clear for PNG and WebP, or fill it with any color you like. JPG always gets a solid background.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Answers to the most common questions about turning SVG files into images.

Which format should I choose?

PNG keeps transparency and crisp edges, which suits logos, icons and screenshots. JPG makes smaller files for photos and email but cannot be transparent. WebP gives the smallest files for websites and supports transparency.

How large can I export an SVG as PNG or JPG?

Up to 8192 pixels on each side, as PNG, JPG or WebP. Phones and tablets have less memory, so very large sizes can fail there. If that happens, try a smaller size.

Why does my exported image look different from the SVG?

Browsers block outside files while converting. If your SVG links to outside images or web fonts, those parts can go missing, and text falls back to fonts installed on your device. Converting text to outlines in your design tool before exporting avoids this.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Your images and SVGs are converted by your own browser, on your own device. They are never sent to a server, so nobody else can see them, and they are gone as soon as you close the page.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. editable.design works in modern browsers on phones, tablets and computers. Big photos convert faster on a computer, but everything works the same way.

Is editable.design really free?

Yes. Every conversion is free, with no account to create, no watermark and no daily limit.
